A bit about us…
For more than 20 years, companies across all industries have trusted us to deliver organizational change through our focus on the human side of strategy.
We’re not your typical training or consulting firm. We’ve got a radical approach to (your) success. And it works. (Our book, Performance Breakthrough: A Radical Approach to Success at Work, even says it in the title!)
The Performance of a Lifetime team comes from a wide array of disciplines — theater, music, design, and improvisation; organizational development and entrepreneurship; and psychology, anthropology, philosophy, equity work, and social activism.
These disciplines and perspectives shape our work with our clients, helping them grow their leaders, make strategic pivots, be more innovative, create more inclusive and diverse workplaces, and build more effective teams.
The art and science of human development — what it is, how it works, even what it means to be human — is always evolving. At the same time as we humans are thinking, cognitive beings, we’re also emotive, creative, curious, and playful. And accessing the full range of who we are is essential to learning, growth, and change.
So Performance of a Lifetime taps into all of who people are — we engage and awaken the desire and ability to start learning, growing, and developing again. We call what we do The Becoming Principle®.
We love what we do. We get enormous gratification seeing our clients transform. And we want this impact to be available to all — including systemically under-resourced and economically disadvantaged communities. That’s why we provide pro-bono services and financial support to several non-profits, including the award-winning youth development organization the All Stars Project, Inc, and the global conference of performance activists, Performing the World. Over the past two decades we’ve contributed $10 million to support grassroots organizations and efforts that use the creative arts to address the devastating impact of poverty and to help people who “don’t belong together” to communicate and collaborate and build new kinds of human communities.

What clients say
I have been through almost every kind of professional training that one can imagine and I can honestly say that Performance of a Lifetime’s approach is one of the most effective out there. [They offer] new thinking and new tools that are helping our leaders to build the creative, inclusive and innovative environment we need to be successful.”
Performance of a Lifetime helped take the IBM (Japan) management team beyond what we had ever done. They took us out of our comfort zone, but in a safe environment. The catalyst of performance helped us start thinking differently about how we could practice, or “rehearse” — to experiment with how we could co-create an alternate future together with our clients.”
We needed our leadership team to step up. Two departments didn’t collaborate well and were too “nose down,” as technology people often are. They had to learn to see the whole enterprise, and partner effectively with their business counterparts and each other. Performance of a Lifetime created a team effectiveness program that made this all happen, and more. My people and team grew before my eyes, and now they’re hitting it out of the park. POAL is creative, smart, business savvy and a joy to partner with.”
Investing in a leadership development solution from Performance of a Lifetime is well worth the cost. The value, creativity and incredible talent their team brings behind the customized solutions provides a truly unique experience for participants. Some of our people might have felt apprehensive at first, but by the end of the program, they were truly engaged and learned a ton.”
